Strengthening of the Chinese IT sector as a possible way from a middle-income trap

This diploma thesis is focused on the issue of the middle income trap, in connection with the development of Chinese economy and information technology sector since the beginning of the 21st century. The first chapter defines the middle income and describes the characteristics of the middle income trap. The second chapter deals with the development of the Chinese economy, its challenges and describes the role of the Chinese government in research and development. The third chapter is concentrated on Chinese foreign mergers and acquisitions, which are the main tool for obtaining the lack of know-how and knowledge in the area of high-tech technologies. The fourth chapter describes specific development cases of selected Chinese manufacturers in the IT industry - Lenovo and Huawei. Based on the comparison of foreign acquisitions made by these two companies, the relationship between the approach to realization of the acquisition and the influence of the given mark on the global market has been demonstrated. The main aim of the thesis is to verify hypothesis of the strengthening the Chinese IT industry not only on the domestic market but also in the world, where is demonstrated that increased support in IT development is one of the possible ways of escaping the middle-income trap.
Initial Stage of PRC's Economic Reform

This paper's ambition is to describe essential economic reforms and their consequences in the People's republic of China since Deng Xiaoping's accession to power (1978) until the events on Tian'anmen square (1989). The paper presents the outline of the economic development of PRC until 1978 and considering the extraordinary impact of Chinese political situation on China's economic development, the paper also presents a concise analysis of the political situation of China in 70s and 80s while stressing the processes that influenced the reform process. The pivotal part of the paper presents the description of the course and outcome of the reforms in agriculture, industry and both village and municipal enterprises. Besides that it addresses the topic of transition towards the market socialism and implementation of the market mechanisms and the central planning related to it. The final part of the paper presents a concise description of changes in the quality of life of citizens.
The opportunities arising for Czech companies from the 13th Five-Year Plan 2016-2020

The master thesis explores the opportunities arising for Czech companies from the 13th Five-Year Plan for the economic and social development of the Peoples Republic of China for the period of 2016-2020, and the impact of Czech-Chinese political relations onto their trading cooperation. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the Chinese economy; it describes its economic history, recent development and current state. The following part focuses on the trading cooperation between the PCR and the Czech Republic and its evaluation. The introductory chapter of the analytical part provides a description of the main points of the 13th Five-Year Plan of the PCR. With regard to the main objective of the thesis, the practical part analyses specific opportunities for Czech companies in areas supported by the Chinese government in accordance with the five-year plan. The survey discovered that both the five-year plan and the political situation have a positive influence on Czech companies business activities in the PCR. This, however, does not apply to all companies equally; it is especially true for large companies while other factors play a decisive role in the case of smaller firms. The survey uses primarily qualitative research based on semi-structured interviews and semi-structured questionnaire. A SWOT analysis identifies the opportunities and threats associated with entering the Chinese market.

The competitiveness profile of the Chinese economy and its shift to qualitatively higher comparative advantages

The main goal of this diploma thesis is to map the development of China's competitiveness in the period from 1970's to the present and to outline the development of the economy in the next 2 decades. The simplified view of the Chinese competitiveness is used in the thesis, which means that we can identify 2 strategies aimed at the development of the Chinese competitiveness. The first chapter contains a definition of term competitiveness and introduces the way of its measurement. The first strategy was applied in China in the period 1978-2005 and is described in the 2nd, 3rd and the 4th chapter. The main goal of these 3 chapters is to describe the reforms adopted by the government and to evaluate the impacts of these reform measures on pillars of the Chinese competitiveness. The latest strategy is described in the last chapter and a special attention is paid to the reform measures aimed at boosting China's innovation performance.
The system of IPR protection in China: Issues and economic impacts

The diploma thesis deals with the issues and economic impacts of the system of Intellectual Property Rights protection in China. The work is divided into three main chapters. The theoretical framework of the system of Intellectual Property Rights is explained in the first part of the diploma thesis. It is focused on the detailed analysis of the most important types of Intellectual Property Rights, that can be found in People's Republic of China. Different ways how to protect our rights in this area are also covered in this section. The second part describes the current situation in China and compares it with some developed countries. The third part at the beginning try to find the connections between IPR system and economic growth. Then it describes the process of the implications of IPR system on the Growth of Chinese Economy and in conclusion explains the strategic importance of Intellectual Property Rights system in chinese economic growth.

This thesis describes the economic influence of China on the surrounding world of the 21st century, the current condition of its economy and its consequent potential to become the leading player in the present-day world economy. Chapter one deals with the rise of Chinese economy to the current position of one of the superpowers and with current challenges of its further economic development. Chapter two is dedicated to the internal potential of the country - including current trends in GDP, its risks and drawbacks and the development of Chinese specific monetary policy. Chapter three focuses on its external potential - FDI progress, export policy and foreign trade development.

The work focuses on the current economic situation of China, on its position in the world economy and on its participation in the international economic relations. It evaluates particular economic indicators and analyses the Chinese position in the international trade. It deals with the relations with the World Trade Organization and the trade with the European Union. Problematics connected to the contemporary economic crisis are discussed. The work points out the power of the Chinese economy, which experiences the extraordinary economic boom. It also points out substantial weak points, which have still persisted.
Czech company enters the Chinese market - selected company

This thesis deals with issues concerning entry of a Czech company to the Chinese market. The first chapter is devoted to the development of the Chinese economy from the establishment of the People's Republic of China to the present. The second chapter describes China's trade with the European Union, the United States and the Czech Republic. China's membership in the WTO is mentioned here as well. The third chapter analyses characteristics of the Chinese market in more detail: safeguard measures, perspective industries, forms of entry, advertising and business customs. It is completed with a subchapter about the company Chemoprojekt, a.s. which is already present in the Chinese market for a longer time.
